Our Machine Operators Sets up and operates several metal fabrication machines including band saws, drill presses, brake presses, forming machines, ironworkers, shears, rolls, belt sanders, abrasive cutoff saws and punches. Generally close tolerance work where dimensional and finish requirements are not difficult to maintain due to nature of tooling and machine setups. Requires a fundamental knowledge of machine shop operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate plate and structural steel rolling machine
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Meet standard labor and quality requirements in work performance
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Measure raw material and completed parts to ensure accuracy
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces
  • Correctly bands and marks identification on jobs.
  • Interpret and maintain basic production and quality documents
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Actively engage in group and company meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience operating metal bending and fabrication equipment is preferred
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Experience in operating an overhead crane
  • Stable work history and record of attendance
  • Open-minded, with strong commitment to team culture
  • Total commitment to quality and safety
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to follow company policies and procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
